Wildfires VS Katrina

I ask everyone to take note of the California wildfire crisis.Pay particular attention to differences in Louisiana and Katrina. Now Im sure FEMA has done alot to clean up its act but I seriously doubt these people would resort to crime if things were less organized.Racist? NO! HONEST? YES! MAny of the homes burning in California are ,yes, affluent,Im sure all some people had to do was call the caretaker and have everything handled but hundreds of thousands of poor and middle class people are being evacuated as well. The Goverenator deployed the national gaurd and contacted the feds and citizens went to work finding places for them and their animals to stay. The outpouring of compassion and heroism is amazing.
Why wasnt Katrina more like this? Here was an opportunity for a community to come together and help one another and New Orleans failed horribly. Is this indicative of a community too dependent on government? After all Ive heard no retrospection of how the citizens reacted to the crisis, only people blaming the government and ,oh yes, racism.
I dont make these comments to be devisive,I am not a racist but I hear clammerings of a good, self reliant message emanating from impoverished black neighborhoods and thought I would take the opportunity to address the contrast in how two American communities dealt with crisis. If you dont like this comparison, check out what happened during Katrina in Mississippi,Louisianas next door neighbor.
Discuss.
